Aachen Cathedral is the “main actor” in two TV productions in June. On the occasion of UNESCO World Heritage Day, “Sendung mit der Maus” devotes a seven-minute factual story to Germany’s first World Heritage Site. In it, presenter Siham explores the question of what special number symbolism underlies the building plan and what sophisticated techniques the builders used 1200 years ago.
First broadcast of the feature within the Maus programme (episode 2373) on Sunday, 5 June, 9:25 to 9:55 a.m. (Das Erste), 11:30 to 12 p.m. (KIKA).
One week later, the culture channel ARTE will take an extensive discovery tour through the cathedral and the cathedral treasury, meet the bishop, the provost and staff, bring the cathedral building saga to life and take part in ecclesiastical and secular life. In sensational high-gloss shots, the documentary illuminates the impact and significance of Aachen Cathedral right up to the present day.
The 50-minute documentary will be broadcast on Sunday, 12 June, at 4:10 pm, as part of the Arte series “UNESCO World Cultural Heritage – Treasures for Eternity”.
