Rolf-Peter Cremer had been Resident Cathedral Capitular since June 2011 when the Cathedral Chapter elected him Provost in its meeting at the end of June 2019 and Bishop Dieser agreed to the personnel decision.

The 62-year-old will take over the task of Cathedral Provost in addition to his previous activities: Cremer will remain deputy Vicar General and also head of the 2021 pilgrimage. With him as the new Cathedral Provost, the connection of the diocese with the Cathedral Church and its services will be improved furthermore.

“With the election of the Cathedral Chapter and the appointment of the Bishop, I am happy that I can contribute my previous experience in the various fields of pastoral care to the question of how the Cathedral can continue to have its place in the pastoral care of the city of Aachen and the diocese. The cathedral in its cultural heritage is given to us as a mandate to make it a tangible experience for the current young generation in construction, culture, music, pastoral care and diaconal work”, says Rolf-Peter Cremer.
